Weekly poll results: the Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra does not spark joy

Asus had carved out a niche for its Zenfone series – small premium phones with relatively large batteries, 3.5mm headphone jacks and more customization options than you can shake a stick at. And now it has thrown it all away. Last week’s poll shows that 30% of those who cast their vote are waiting for a small Zenfone 11 (and we don’t even know if such a phone exists). Then a whopping 41% of voters think that the Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra just isn’t all that good. Interest might pick up if the prices drop, but Asus phones rarely get serious discounts. Who is this phone for, anyway?...

Weekly poll: will you buy the Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra?

In a recent poll, the Asus ROG Phone 8/8 Pro proved to be a potentially very popular model if it could clear one hurdle – the $1,100/€1,100 price was too high (it was even worse for the Pro, $1,200/€1,200/₹95,000). What if the ROG Phone 8 was cheaper? Wish granted – just not the way you may have thought. This week the company unveiled the Zenfone 11 Ultra, its first large Zenfone since 2021’s Zenfone 8 Flip. This means a larger display, larger battery and (incidentally) an additional camera (the first tele module since the Flip). The same 12/256GB configuration that costs €1,100 on...

Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra made its official debut today, marking an important change of direction for the company's mainstream Zenfone line. The phone comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and all the latest AI bangs and whistles, but more importantly it is significantly bigger than its predecessors. In fact the Zenfone 11 Ultra has a footprint identical to the ROG Phone 8 Pro, albeit its design has been altered to suggest it's targeted at more mainstream audience. The 6.78” LTPO AMOLED display has Full HD+ resolution and up to 144 Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness is 2,500 nits,...

The next mainstream flagship device from the Taiwanese company has already been extensively leaked at the beginning of February, and today we have a new leak about it. There are some more official-looking images to gawk at, but perhaps the most important new thing here is pricing information. The leak comes from a Czech store, and so the prices are for that market, in Czech Crowns. The 11 Ultra with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage will be priced at CZK 24,990 ($1,078 or €986 at the current exchange rates) and the model with 16GB...

The Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra starred in a massive leak earlier this month, signaling a nearing release. Now we have a confirmation of its chipset, courtesy of Geekbench. An Asus smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset just surfaced on Geekbench's database, showcasing the SoC's full potential. Given that Asus has only a couple smartphones on its portfolio and the recent Zenfone 11 Ultra leak, it's probably safe to assume it's in fact the 11 Ultra. Unfortunately, there's not much to extract from the Geekbench listing except that the tested device boots Android 14 and packs ...

Asus has followed a strict release schedule with its smartphone lineup over the past few years. The Zenfone series consists of compact flagships while the ROG Phone series caters to the gaming-oriented crowd with flagship specs and larger-sized screens. Asus is expected to launch a Zenfone 11 soon but it may finally offer a larger screen version of its flagship this time around. A new leak uncovered by Reddit user Td3v1l while digging through the latest ROG 8 firmware update gives us our first look at the Zenfone 11 Ultra with a series of renders, including the retail packaging box as well...

Asus Zenfone 11 shows up in the Google Play Console with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Last year there was a rumor going round, saying that Asus would discontinue the Zenfone line and thus the Zenfone 10 would be the last of the diminutive flagships in the company's roster. Thankfully for those who are into smaller phones, Asus itself quickly denied the rumor, and that was that. Now, the Google Play Console comes to further prove the point that Asus has not given up on the Zenfones, by listing the upcoming Zenfone 11. The Zenfone 10 was announced in June 2023 and released the following month, so we're probably still quite far removed from the official introduction of...
