Samsung's upcoming One UI 8.5 is expected to make its debut alongside the Galaxy S26 series in January, and thanks to a newly leaked early build we now know of another feature it will incorporate: AI-powered notification summaries. In the most recently leaked One UI 8.5 build, this feature has been added but it still doesn't work. Anyway, it's self-explanatory - AI will help you summarize stuff in your notifications. When you first pull down the notification shade, you'll see the pop-up in the screenshot on the left below, explaining the feature. You can then just ignore it or turn it on...
Samsung has been rumored to give up on the Plus model of its flagship line next year - so there wouldn't be a Galaxy S26+, its place instead taken by the Galaxy S26 Edge, which should launch alongside the Galaxy S26 Ultra and Galaxy S26 Pro. But today a new report from Korea brings some theoretical breaking news - apparently, the Galaxy S26+ could see the light of day after all. And that's because the Galaxy S25 Edge's sales are disappointing. Thus, Samsung assumes its successor wouldn't do much better, and so it's allegedly started developing the Galaxy S26+. This all apparently...
Meta has announced a big change to its privacy policy, and you may not like it at all. Basically, starting on December 16, it will use the content of your interactions with its generative AI features to personalize content and ad recommendations across its platforms. Whether it's a voice chat or a text exchange with Meta AI, it will be used to "improve the recommendations we provide for people across our platforms so they’re more likely to see content they’re actually interested in", and "less of the content they're not". An example Meta gives is that if you talk to Meta AI about hiking,...

Samsung has announced that it's working on bringing detection and monitoring of Left Ventricular Systolic Dysfunction (LVSD) to its smartwatches in a world first. This is a serious cardiovascular condition responsible for approximately 50% of all heart failure cases and is more fatal than some cancers. Thus, early detection is critical to lower the risk of death and reduce hospitalization. Samsung will be using AI algorithms developed in collaboration with Medical AI, a Korean medical device company specializing in AI-based ECG. The algorithms were developed based on Medical AI's in-house...

Apple launched the AirPods Pro 3 alongside the iPhone Air, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max last month. Today, the new flagship TWS earbuds have been taken apart by iFixit, and you can see the full teardown video embedded below. Unsurprisingly for something so small, the earbuds are very hard to get into, as they're not meant to be disassembled. That said, the battery removal is the easiest ever on a pair of AirPods, but that's not a high bar to clear. Let's just say that trying to remove the driver basically destroys it. In the stem, a similar story unfolds....
Today Samsung has announced a "strategic partnership" with OpenAI meant to "accelerate advancements in global AI infrastructure". Samsung Electronics will work with OpenAI as a strategic memory partner, supplying "advanced semiconductor solutions" to the ChatGPT maker. Samsung estimates that OpenAI's memory demand will reach up to 900,000 DRAM wafers per month, and the Korean company will "contribute toward meeting this need with its extensive lineup of high-performance, energy-efficient DRAM solutions", the official press release says. Samsung is also bringing to the table...
Qualcomm has achieved "complete victory" in its licensing dispute with Arm, which started back in 2022 when Arm filed a lawsuit against Qualcomm over a breach of contract related to Arm's acquisition of Nuvia and its use of Nuvia technology in the design of its custom Phoenix cores. Like all court spats, this one took very long to conclude, but it now has in its entirety. A US District Court judge in the District of Delaware dismissed the lone remaining claim in Arm's lawsuit against Qualcomm and Nuvia, by ruling in favor of Nuvia. This follows Qualcomm's victory in December 2024,...
Well, this sure isn’t going to re-ignite the x86 vs. ARM performance arguments, right? Early, admittedly controlled, benchmarks from the new Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme show it wiping the floor with top new CPUs from AMD and Intel in both single-core and multi-core performance. Here are the results from Geekbench 6.5 and how they compare against the likes of the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V and Qualcomm’s original Snapdragon X Elite as tested by PCWorld. Note that some of these results come from Geekbench 6.1, but they should still be comparable. In a similar...
