These days so many services, even full-blown apps, live in the cloud so it’s only natural to consider a cloud-first device – with that in mind, Microsoft’s new Windows 365 Link is pretty self-explanatory. It’s a device purpose-built to connect to Windows 365. The advantage is that it allows businesses to use “hot desks” where an employee can sit down, log in and get the same Windows desktop that they used yesterday – even if they were on another desk or even another building yesterday. This can be used on the go or at home as well. The Link can drive two 4K monitors and the required...

The new standard allows for quick sharing of high-quality photos, easy reactions to other messages and enhanced group chats with a simple click. For RCS messaging to work, Android and iOS users who wish to communicate together must have Google Messages installed and RCS...

The Sony Xperia 1 VI was announced in mid-May with a promise of three OS updates and four years of security patches (the phone itself came with Android 14, of course). Here comes the first of three OS updates. The changelog is as terse as it gets: “Android 15 OS Upgrade” and a bump to the November 1 security patch. The software version is 69.1.A.2.78. You can see the update here on the Sony UK Support page, which also has a guide on how to install the update (it’s pretty much “tap update”). Sony Xperia 1 VI receives Android 15 (69.1.A.2.78) As the tipster that alerted us to this...

Samsung Galaxy A16 4G in for review

Stop us if you've seen this one. Today we have the Samsung Galaxy A16 for review, the nearly identical 4G version of the Galaxy A16 5G we reviewed last month. Like the 5G model, the 4G one ships with nothing more than a SIM eject tool and a USB-C cable. The LTE-only Galaxy A16 is nearly identical to its 5G counterpart but there are some obvious visual differences. Where the 5G model had a rear panel with a prism-like effect to reflections, the 4G has a matte finish. Ours is the Gray model but it definitely has some light Blue to it. Specs-wise, you get the same 6.7-inch...

Sony today launched the second generation model of its flagship Alpha 1 camera. Sticking with the company's famously bad naming conventions, the new camera is called Alpha 1 II. The original Alpha 1 was the Swiss Army knife of mirrorless cameras and was critically acclaimed for its incredible high speed photo and 8K video capabilities. The Alpha 1 II borrows the same 50.1MP full-frame stacked CMOS sensor but combines it with a new AI processing unit. This improves the autofocusing capabilities, which can now detect a more diverse range of subjects apart from humans, including...

It wasn't a joke, Google really is changing Android's release timeframe. The first developer preview of a new version used to come out around February-March. Not anymore. The first developer preview of Android 16 is out now, way ahead of the previous schedule. Google is reiterating that Android 16 will come out in the second quarter of next year (April to June), followed by a minor new Android release in the fourth quarter (October to December), which we assume will be dubbed Android 16.1 or 16.5 or something similar. This one will "pick up feature updates, optimizations, and bug fixes"...
