Remember the 30-pin connector that originated on iPods and was later used on the early iPhones? It was a large, clunky but surprisingly functional thing. It was replaced in 2012 starting with the iPhone 5 – Apple’s new Lightning connector was sleek and reversible, a few years before the first Androids with USB-C appeared in 2015. And that made a lot of people angry. While the Lightning had advantages over the 30-pin connector, due to being on millions of iPods and then millions more iPhones, the old connector was featured in a multitude of devices that suddenly needed an adapter. Weekly poll results: Galaxy Z Flip5 has little competition, Z Fold5 is quite pricey

Samsung has big expectations from its new foldables, but they haven’t gotten any cheaper (the opposite, in fact) and the upgrades, while appreciated, are nothing groundbreaking – other brands had already figured out hinge designs that close shut and have large cover displays on their clamshell foldables. Last week’s poll shows that the price is a major issue for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5. Even glowing reviews won’t sway most people, it’s just out of reach for them in terms of cost. And it doesn’t help that the Z Fold cameras have languished behind what the Galaxy S Ultra phones are...

The Google Pixel Watch launched last October came with the Exynos 9110 SoC at the helm. However, a few months ago, we heard the Pixel Watch 2 would ditch Exynos for the Snapdragon W5 Series chip. It was unclear whether that would be the W5 or W5+ Gen 1 SoC. But if Android Authority is believed, the second-gen Pixel Watch will be powered by the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 platform. The new chip should bring efficiency improvements to the Google Pixel Watch 2, which, paired with a tad larger battery (306 mAh vs. 294 mAh), should result in better battery life than the first-gen Pixel Watch. The...

The Apple Watch Series 9, expected to go official next month, will be "basically unchanged" compared to its predecessor Watch Series 8, claimed Weibo user Instant Digital, corroborating previous reports of the Watch Series 9 being a minor upgrade over the Series 8. The Watch Series 9 will be the Watch Series 8 with a different chip at the helm, bringing performance and efficiency improvements to the smartwatch. A few months ago, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman claimed the Watch Series 9 would be powered by a new chip based on Apple's A15 SoC first used in the iPhone 13 models. In addition...
