As rumored earlier this month, the app now has support for conversational AI-powered editing. This is coming first to the Pixel 10 line in the US. The functionality lets you simply describe the edits you want to make by text or voice in the Photos editor, and the changes will then magically appear. This is obviously powered by Google's Gemini. Since it's an open-ended experience, you don't have to indicate which tools you want to use. Just talk as you...

Google Photos has now added what we consider to be a very useful feature, albeit it's only available on Android. It's the ability to quickly mirror your photos. You just need to tap the Edit icon on any image, then select Crop, and tap the flip icon. Then all you need to do is tap Save and it's done. Do note that this is only available for photos. This is most useful for selfies, which most phones automatically mirror. That's fine sometimes, but other times you might want to have an accurate representation of what you saw in the viewfinder. Some camera apps do have both...

An example Google gave is something like "Emma painting in the backyard", and you can see how it works in the video below. You can sort the results by date or relevance, to help you get to the specific image you're after even faster. This experience is currently rolling out in English to all users on Android and iOS, and will expand to more languages "in the coming weeks". Select US users are also getting early access to Ask Photos via Google Labs...

It's been a very Gemini-filled Google I/O conference this year, and Google Photos hasn't escaped Gemini-fication. Google has announced Ask Photos, an "experimental feature" that will be rolling out over the coming months, making it easier for you to get to a specific memory or recall information that's in your gallery. This is powered by Gemini and will help you find what you need without scrolling through many pages of photos and videos. As the name implies, with Ask Photos, you simply ask for what you're looking for in a natural way. The example Google gives is "show...

We are talking about Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, and Portrait light. This will happen from May 15, which, coincidentally or not, is the day after Google's annual developer conference. As always, expect the rollout to take a few weeks after that date, since that's the way Google likes to do things. The three aforementioned features will also be available on "more devices, including Pixel tablets", Google revealed. Last year, Google...

Google Photos has learned a neat little trick to better serve its users on Android and iOS. It will use AI to create a highlight video of anything you'd like, with background music in tow. The feature is rolling out to Android and iOS users right now though it may take a few days to reach your phone. When it does, you'll have a new "+" icon at the top of your timeline, from there choose Highlight Video. You then use the search within Photos to find what places, people, or topics you want and fire away. AI will do the rest - choose the right clips, a background tune and sync it all...
