Samsung's Galaxy S26+ is back on track, after allegedly having been initially scrapped in favor of the Galaxy S26 Edge. Now that device's release is in question, though if it does arrive, it will probably be later than the rest of the family. Today, CAD-based renders of the Galaxy S26+ have been outed, along with the phone's dimensions. Let's start there. It measures 158.4 x 75.7 x 7.35 mm. That makes it the same height, and marginally narrower and thicker than its predecessor, but we are talking fractions of a millimeter here, so for all intents and purposes it will feel identical in...

According to Digital Chat Station, LOFIC image sensors are about to gain wider adoption as smartphone makers and image sensor makers are gearing up for competition. A partnership between OmniVision and vivo will produce results soon, according to DCS, but he didn’t name model names. Other sensor makers are working on LOFIC designs too. LOFIC stands for Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor – it’s a capacitor that takes in the charge that goes over the photodiode’s full well capacity. This enables things like single-exposure HDR and longer exposures. We’ve already seen a LOFIC sensor...

The Samsung Galaxy XR uses two micro-OLED displays built by Sony using “OLED on Silicon” (OLEDoS) technology. Samsung Display has reportedly started mass producing OLEDoS panels, according to ETNews, and will become a second supplier for the XR headset. This generation of OLEDoS creates white OLEDs on a silicon wafer and uses color filters for RGB colors. The ones in the Galaxy XR are 1.3” in size and have 3,552 x 3,840px resolution – there’s one panel for each eye. Sony also supplies OLEDoS panels for the Apple Vision Pro. Samsung is looking to launch a credit card in the US, reports The Wall Street Journal. The card will be a partnership between Samsung and British bank Barclays and it will use Visa as the payment network. This is clearly intended to compete with the Apple Card that rival Apple offers. That one is backed by Goldman Sachs and Mastercard (though we hear that Goldman Sachs wants out). Samsung and Barclays are reportedly in “advanced talks” and should make a formal announcement by the end of the year. Apparently, talks are taking longer than expected. Both companies have something to gain...

vivo just unveiled the Y500 Pro, and it's somewhat of a non-straightforward upgrade over its predecessor. Let's start with the good. The phone is a bit faster thanks to a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 SoC, which is basically the same SoC as the 7300 inside the Y400 Pro but with a 100MHz faster clock. The RAM is either the same 8 gigs or a larger 12GB, which the old phone lacks. On a less positive note, the vivo Y500 Pro downgrades the UFS 3.1 of its predecessor to UFS 2.2. vivo Y500 Pro in all colors The vivo Y500 Pro has a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED display upfront with Diamond...
