Back in February, OnePlus responded to Google and Samsung offering seven years of software support for their flagships by saying anything over five years doesn't make any sense financially. Five months later, the Chinese company seems to have changed its tune. OnePlus COO Kinder Liu just told Digital Trends that the upcoming Nord 4 will get six years of security patches from its launch. Sure, one extra year isn't overly that much on top, but still - what ever happened to "no one needs more than five"? Additionally, we're wondering what's going to happen to OnePlus' flagships like...

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra yesterday at its Unpacked event. They are both missing the Wireless PowerShare feature, as it turns out. This allowed you to wirelessly charge past Galaxy Watches on the back of your phone. But now you can't do that anymore with these new watches. The culprit is be the new BioActive sensor array that Samsung developed for its latest generation smartwatches, which has a new design that made Samsung change the shape of the back glass on the new watches. This change increased the distance between the internal wireless charging coil of...

As anticipated, Apple is off the hook in the EU regarding the limitations it has so far imposed on mobile payments, avoiding a possibly very hefty fine. The European Commission (EC), which had opened an investigation into these practices, has accepted Apple's commitments to open access to the iPhones' NFC chips to enable third-party apps to use tap to pay. Apple has committed to allowing third-party bank apps to access the NFC chips to enable tap to pay. So far this has only been possible through Apple Pay, but that is changing in the EU. The EC initially concluded that Apple...

Two-factor authentication (2FA) has been a staple of many online services for years now, securing your account by not simply requiring your password, but also a one-time authentication code (that can be delivered via SMS, to your email, or generated by a dedicated app). Spotify is very, very late to this game, but it looks like it's finally enabled a rudimentary form of two-factor authentication for a very small subset of its normal, non-celebrity accounts, according to reports over on Reddit. We say 'rudimentary' because right now there doesn't seem to be any way to turn this on or off,...

The OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro is the latest in the company's line of confusingly named audio products with a random Pro tacked on at the end without an accompanying non-Pro variant. The Nord Buds 3 Pro are true wireless earbuds with a focus on their noise cancelling ability. OnePlus claims up to 49dB reduction in noise and an ultra-wide frequency range of up to 4000Hz, where it is effective. The earbuds come in two color variants, Starry Black and the Soft Jade seen here. Both have a two-tone color finish, with the bottom half having a lighter tone with a speckled pattern...

The stars of the show were the new foldables, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 but we also saw the Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro – the first time Samsung launched two sets of TWS buds at the same event. Another first for Samsung is that those buds come with stems, but the company wants you to call them blades. We were at the event in Paris and got the chance to handle both sets. Here are our first impressions. The cases have been redesigned and now come with a transparent top. Samsung made...

Bixby still exists. In other news, Samsung Mobile Division President TM Roh has confirmed that Bixby will be getting a generative AI infusion later this year. The Korean company's assistant will use its own large language models, so this won't be achieved through a partnership with Google or OpenAI, at least not initially. Roh also confirmed that Samsung will continue to allow multiple voice assistants on its devices, so presumably you will be able to have both the AI-ified Bixby as well as the Google Gemini replacement for the Google Assistant. Of course you can also download the ChatGPT...

The iQOO Neo9S Pro+ has a pretty long name and it rightfully one-ups the Neo9 Pro by incorporating Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. It replaces the Dimensity 9300+ found in the non-Plus variant and it’s again configurable with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. This device also gets a slightly larger 1/1.56” customized 50MP IMX921 main camera sensor with OIS. The rest of the specs are identical – a 6.78-inch LTPO...
